Châtel is winter and summer village resort located in Haute-Savoie, between Lake Geneva, Mont Blanc, the Swiss Alps and the Jura mountains. Perched at an altitude of 1200 meters on the Franco-Swiss border, it is one of the main and most popular base camps in the vast international Portes du Soleil ski area.
It boasts wide-open white spaces in winter and lush green landscapes in summer, as well as authentic and majestic scenery, among the most varied and spectacular in the heart of the Alps.

Châtel is first of all a charming village which has more than one advantage thanks to its geographical location in the pre-alps of Chablais, the jewel of the territories of Haute-Savoie with its remarkable landscapes and its rich history.

IN WINTER
The Portes du Soleil has been one of the biggest players in world skiing for the last 50 years, with 12 linked resorts either side of the French-Swiss border just an hour from Geneva :
Abondance, Avoriaz, Châtel, La Chapelle d'Abondance, Les Gets, Montriond, Morzine-Avoriaz, Saint-Jean-d'Aulps, Champéry, Morgins, Torgon, Val-d'Illiez, Les Crosets and Champoussin.
This genuine Natural Powder Reserve at the heart of the Alps offers skiers unspoilt surroundings, mountain lifts that keep a low profile amid snowbound forests, pistes that wind their way through snow meadows, spruces and mountain chalets that have stood the test of time.
The ski area enjoys exceptionally good snowfall from mid-November to the end of April, with an average of 7m83 of powder every year.
The Portes du Soleil offers visitors a unique ski experience that we call "ski safari": just click into your bindings at your chalet and go exploring from resort to resort, valley to valley - and even from country to country...

The Portes du Soleil : a massive territory that's MTB heaven on earth...Thanks to the Portes du Soleil's size and topography, riders can take in an ever-changing landscape, from treelined singletracks in the forest, to wider and easier routes across Alpine meadows that you'll share with cow herds grazing on the lush grass.
Take advantage of the 22 mountain lifts on offer to hop over the Franco-Swiss border with incredible panoramas on offer for your ride downhill.
Around 20 bike patrollers make daily checks and carry out running repairs to ensure the tracks and parks are safe and up to scratch.
